FAQ

What is Cosmetic Tattoo?

Cosmetic Tattoo, also known as Semi-Permanent Makeup, is a treatment involving the controlled insertion of safe colour pigments into the dermis layer of the skin by a professionally trained artist, using a sterile, single-use micro-tool. Instantly enhancing your appearance, cosmetic tattoo is a popular way to improve your natural features (including eyes, brows and lips) with a soft, natural effect that can either look like perfectly applied make-up or an undetectable natural enhancement, depending on your desired result. All cosmetic tattooing will 'fade', or metabolise, to some degree over time which is due to a number of individual factors.

How long does Cosmetic Tattoo last?

1-3 years, depending on a variety of factors such as skin type, skin preparation and level of aftercare.  To keep your cosmetic tattoo looking fresh, a touch up is recommended every 12-18 months.

How much does it cost?

This varies depending on which treatment you choose. Please refer to the pricing page for specific prices and specials.

Will cosmetic tattooing hurt?

You comfort and safety is the number one priority. Every person will answer this question differently as everyone has a different pain/discomfort tolerance. Most clients report that they don’t feel any pain at all during treatment, while others experience some minor discomfort. You can be assured that every measure will be taken to eliminate any pain or discomfort during your treatment. Before your treatment, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied to effectively numb the area. A secondary anaesthetic can also be reapplied throughout your treatment should you begin to feel any discomfort.

If you are a frequent smoker, the topical anaesthetic treatment may not last as long. Likewise, if you have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, your skin may be more sensitive to this treatment.

How long does the procedure take?

Approximately 2-3 hours. This includes a thorough pre-consultation, application of topical anaesthetic, brow mapping, the tattoo procedure and a comprehensive explanation of aftercare procedures on conclusion your treatment.

What type of brows are best for me?

This depends on what type of results you would like to achieve! What's your brow dream? It's a great idea to bring along some pictures of your brow inspiration and/or photos of your brows with make-up (how you like them done) when you come for your treatment. When you arrive, a thorough consultation will take place where you can explain what you wish to achieve and your brow artist will discuss with you which brows will be most suitable.

Is it safe?

You can rest assured EVERY measure will be taken to ensure your safety and comfort during your treatment at Madame Brow. By law in Australia, all cosmetic tattoo artists MUST be certified in infection control and prevention. I have extensive knowledge and have undergone rigorous training in this area, and hold a Nationally Accredited Certificate of Maintaining Infection Control during skin penetration procedures, obtained through Think Aesthetics Australia. This certificate is nationally recognised and allows me to practice infection control to the highest standard. I advise anyone seeking cosmetic tattoo from any establishment to ask to see this certificate prior to treatment.
